September Float Notes
Float Notes – Monthly reflections, offers, and float wisdom from Stasis Float Center
“We have to let the surface of the water be still for it to really reflect.“ —Brother Phap Huu
Happy September!
We’ve made it to that time of year when summer plans are winding down, school schedules are kicking back in, and Syracuse weather gets to decide what season we’re actually having.
With routines shifting and everyone squeezing in those last summer activities, September is a great reminder to leave a little room to decompress too. If the Fair is on your agenda, we can also confidently recommend 90 minutes of quiet after all those lights, sounds, crowds, and hopefully some good food.
There’s plenty happening at Stasis this month:
🎶 Stasis Sound returns with Allison Graff on Friday, September 11th and Thursday, September 24th.
🔬 Project Arcturus is still underway. If you currently float regularly, or have maintained a regular float practice in the past, we would greatly appreciate your participation. We’d love to see Stasis contribute a strong number of responses to this important international research effort.
🛠️ Behind the scenes, we’ve also been busy getting ready for fall and winter. I’ve been putting a 3D printer to work on everything from shower caddies and splash guards to drip catchers, with a few festive pumpkin ducks possibly sneaking into the mix.
And if the change of season has you thinking about building a better routine, our Float Foundations Starter Bundle and Memberships are available to help turn an occasional reset into something more consistent.
Seeing new guests discover floating and regular floaters make it part of their lives continues to be incredibly rewarding. I’m honored to help provide the space for it.
We’ll look forward to having you in soon for your next relaxing session!
Warmly,
Glenn Runyan, Owner
Stasis Float Center

Project Arcturus: Stasis Is Taking Part
We’re excited to share that Stasis Float Center is participating in Project Arcturus, a global research initiative through the nonprofit Float Research Collective and the largest float study conducted to date.
More than 100 float centers are participating as researchers work to better understand how regular floating may support mental, emotional, and physical health and well being.
The study is specifically looking for adults with experience floating regularly. Because participant recruitment needs to follow the research guidelines, we cannot share the survey publicly online.
If you’re a regular floater and would like to participate, keep an eye out for the Project Arcturus materials here at Stasis during your next visit. You can scan the provided QR code at the center to learn about eligibility, participation, and the study itself.
We’re incredibly happy to play a small part in helping move float research forward, and we greatly appreciate any of our regular floaters who choose to contribute.
Behind the Scenes: Printing a Better Float Experience
We’re always looking for little ways to make the experience at Stasis smoother, and sometimes the solution is not something you can simply buy off the shelf.
One current project is custom shower caddies designed to keep our shower amenities a little more secure and out of the path of wandering elbows. The version pictured is still an early revision, so please excuse the bright orange. That is strictly our prototyping color while I work through the final design.
The same process is also opening the door for a few other upgrades around the center, including splash guards, drip catchers, and whatever else proves useful once I start staring at a problem long enough.
And since fall is creeping in, apparently the 3D printer also needed to make room for some pumpkin ducks. Some projects are practical. Some are seasonal necessities.
More refinements are on the way as we keep finding small ways to make your time at Stasis even better.
Build Your Float Foundation
If you’ve been curious about making floating more than a one time experience, our Float Foundations Starter Bundle is designed to help you discover what a regular float practice can feel like.
Get 3 floats for $158, essentially three sessions for the regular cost of two. Complete all three within 3 weeks of your first float, and we’ll add a 4th float free. If life gets busy, your original three floats will still be there for you.
With how much noise and distraction fills our days, having a regular place to disconnect, reset, and recharge can be pretty valuable.
If you haven’t redeemed your Starter Bundle yet, there’s never a bad time to build your float foundation.
