October Float Notes
Float Notes – Monthly reflections, offers, and float wisdom from Stasis Float Center
“Yet it is in our idleness, in our dreams, that the submerged truth sometimes comes to the top.”
Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own
Can You Be Bad at Relaxing?
We meet plenty of guests who are brand new to floating, meditation, or even the idea of intentionally setting time aside to do nothing. For some, relaxing comes naturally. For others, slowing down can surprisingly feel like work.
We spend so much of our lives moving from one responsibility to the next that simply stopping can feel unfamiliar. Sleep helps us rest, hobbies help us recharge, but sometimes we need a space dedicated entirely to stepping away from the noise. That is where floating can be a little different.
Your first session may involve figuring out how to settle in. You might notice every thought bouncing around your head before things finally quiet down. Another float might become deeply introspective, bring relief to a tired body, or result in you happily conking out for most of the 90 minutes.
Our regular floaters remind us all the time that no two sessions are exactly alike. With practice, getting comfortable with stillness may become easier, but there is no perfect float and there is certainly no test to pass.
Relaxing really can be easier said than done. Sometimes having a warm, weightless space with nowhere else to be is enough to help us remember how.
As the colder months start creeping back in, we look forward to giving you, or someone you care about, a place to pause, recover, and find your stasis.
Here’s what’s happening at Stasis this October:
Stasis Sound is shifting slightly this month, with sessions moving to Friday, October 16th and Thursday, October 22nd.
Stasis Sound: A Salt Room Meditation Experience
If you’ve been seeing Stasis Sound pop up in our newsletters and have been curious about giving it a try, October might be the perfect month to finally join us.
Allison Graff guides each Salt Room meditation through contemplative sound, breath, and awareness, creating a unique space to quiet the mind and step away from the usual noise of the day. If you’ve attended before, each session also offers another opportunity to settle in and experience the practice a little differently.
This month’s schedule shifts slightly, with sessions on Friday, October 16th and Thursday, October 22nd at 6pm.
