Covid-safe Date Ideas - Syracuse Edition

Originally posted January 28, 2021

For many, these past few months have made it difficult to connect with people you love. Simply going on a date requires far more planning and calculation than before. Fortunately, Syracuse is known for it’s resilaice! Valentine's Day is coming up, and we’ve put together 5 Awesome date ideas that prove you can spend quality time together while staying safe.

  1. Take a stroll through Syracuse history at Onondaga Park!

Located right in the city, this 82-acre park is as charming in the winter as it is in the spring. The park was designed by the historic urban planner, George Kessler. You can walk/jog the marked Monday Mile Trail to get some light exercise in, or head to the historic Hiawatha Lake and Band Gazebo for the best photo-op in the city.

  2. Adventure to the Toggenburg Mountain

Do you find a walk in the park to be like… well… a walk in the park? Looking for a date that will get your adrenaline pumping? Just a half-hour away from downtown Syracuse, you can visit Toggenburg Mountain to get your fill of action-packed winter sports. If you're looking to wind down afterward, they have excellent food, and even offer to lodge if you want to stay longer than just a day trip.

  3. Get wild at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo!

You might enjoy the snow, but not as much as the Snow Leopards at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo do! From amphibians to invertebrates, you can learn about all the creatures of the world, without ever leaving the city. You might even see a real (Komodo) Dragon! There’s something magical about learning together.

The zoo only allows visits by reservation and limit capacity to 750 per day, so you can be assured that you are socially distant while getting close to nature.

  4. Play Syracuse Monopoly and support the Food Bank of Central New York!

Instead of going out into the city, why not bring the city inside! Board games are the ultimate couple’s Covid-safe activity. ‘Monopoly: Syracuse edition’ was created by The Cooley Group, to raise money for Food Bank of Center New York, which has been providing food relief to Syracuse residents for decades.
